Law Office of Federico Serrano
Full-service immigration law firm
The Law Office of Federico Serrano is a full-service immigration law firm. We cover all aspects of immigration law, with few exceptions. Our key practice areas represent some of our niche practices and areas where we have particular expertise and experience.
Ask An Immigration Question (Phone or E-mail)
By using our services, you get a convenient way of getting your immigration questions answered—but at a fraction of the cost that you would pay another immigration attorney. By submitting your question online, we eliminate the costs of traveling personally to see an attorney and pay a substantial amount of money for the initial consultation or immigration legal services. Additionally, because our law firm’s practice is limited to immigration law, you know you’re getting accurate and timely immigration legal advice.
Change/Extension of Nonimmigrant Status
Citizenship or Naturalization
U.S. citizenship is obtained either by birth or naturalization. We can help you to prepare and file your citizenship application and advise you throughout the process.
Deportation or Removal
We represent who clients detained by the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and provide removal defense for permanent and non-permanent residents.
Employment Immigration
We provide comprehensive immigration services to individuals, companies, nonprofit and religious organizations, entrepreneurs, professionals, and business enterprises seeking to work or employ individuals in the United States temporarily or permanently.
Family Immigration
We are committed to preserving family unity. Whether applying abroad or in the United States, we can assist you in seeking immigration benefits by filing on behalf of spouses and children or other qualifying family members. We can also assist you in establishing U.S. citizenship for persons born abroad.
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request
Our office can assist you in obtaining a copy of your records from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Immigration Courts through the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), or other government agencies involved in our immigration system.
Immigration Consequences of Criminal Convictions
Criminal offenses by non-U.S. citizens frequently have serious immigration consequences that may lead to the denial of immigration benefits or even forced removal from the United States. Suppose you are currently in our criminal justice system or have been in the past and are now seeking to obtain immigration benefits. In that case, we can help you determine whether there are any adverse immigration consequences and whether our immigration laws provide any form of relief to you.
Legal Permanent Residency or Green Card Status
You can obtain a Legal Permanent Residency by approving an immigrant visa based generally on qualifying family relationships, Labor Certification for employment-based applications, or the Green Card Lottery or Diversity Visa. Depending on the particular facts of each client, Legal Permanent Residency can be obtained through adjustment of status in the United States or by consular processing abroad.
Request For Further Evidence (RFE)
The Request for Evidence (RFE) issuance varies from agency to agency. It depends on many factors, including agency policy changes and recent regulatory or case law developments. RFEs are issued to clarify or address a legal or factual point concerning the adjudicating officer. Suppose you have received an RFE issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security or another government agency relating to your immigration petition, either after filing or at the time of the initial interview. In that case, our office can assist you in responding adequately to the legal and procedural requirements of the RFE.
Waivers of Inadmissibility
U.S. immigration law prohibits individuals under certain circumstances from entering the United States as nonimmigrants or immigrants. However, the law also provides that these “inadmissible” individuals may be granted a visa if specific requirements related to their grounds of inadmissibility are met. For many of these grounds of inadmissibility, If an individual’s visa application is denied, they can request a waiver.
